About TrustJes.us
Our Mission
Our aim is to obediently preach the Gospel, that people would come to know the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent, according to the Bible. Jesus said in John 17:2 that this is eternal life. Our doing of this from the Word that is active in us. We believe we are dead in our sins and trespasses and it us ultimately God who grants repentance, that people be reborn, and will bear fruit of that new birth. His Holy Spirit inspired Word works in us that we desire and do His good, pleasing and perfect will, coparticipating in His divine nature, in His strength, that in all things He gets the glory.
While that could possibly be phrased better, above all, we proclaim that Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, came in the flesh, lived, died and was raised from the grave by the power of God according to the Scriptures.
Doctrinal Statements
The Bible
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. Only the Bible is perfect. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our aim is that people come to know the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.
"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death on the cross, and His bodily resurrection from the grave according to the Scriptures. He is the only way to the Father and the only means of salvation.
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. People must fully trust in Jesus Christ for their justification. God grants repentance, and those who are saved are reborn and bear fruit of that new birth.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers and leads us to all truth through the Scriptures. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer's heart, seals them for the day of redemption, and empowers them for service.
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..."
"And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment."
"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
Spiritual Gifts and Order
We believe the Holy Spirit gives gifts to the church for the edification (building up) of the body of Christ. These include gifts of service, teaching, exhortation, giving, leadership, mercy, and others, all working together for the common good and the work of the ministry.
It is Biblical to hold the position that God does, according to His sovereign will, grant sign gifts such as healings, prophecy (like Agabus, not new Scripture), and the speaking of known human languages. We also recognize there are abuses in churches that claim to show signs and wonders, and also believe that claiming speaking in tongues is required for salvation is heretical. All things must be tested and held against the final authority of the Scriptures.
"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness."
"Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy."
"Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."
"Let all things be done decently and in order."
Church Leadership and Order
We believe the foundational office of the 12 Apostles and Paul is not repeated, as they laid the foundation of the church. The modern use of "apostle" would be more akin to a missionary or church-planter "sent out" by the church.
We believe that the Bible is clear that women should not teach or have authority over men in the church, and should not be placed in positions of pastors over men, nor as church elders, in accordance with the Scriptures.
"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone."
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."
Marriage, Divorce, and Purity
We believe in the sanctity of marriage as ordained by God between one man and one woman, symbolizing the covenant between Christ and the church. All sexual activity outside of this covenant, including looking at a person with lust, is sin and must be repented of. Any union outside this definition, such as a 'homosexual marriage', is not lawful before God and should be dissolved.
The Bible only permits divorce under circumstances of spousal unfaithfulness (fornication) or when an unbelieving spouse physically abandons the marriage. Remarriage, especially after a non-Biblical divorce is sin and must be confessed. While repentance is required, we understand the best path forward may not always to dissolve the new union, but to seek God's mercy and sanctification of the current marriage.
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."
"And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."
"But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace."
Sin and Our Need for Christ
We believe that all wrongdoing is sin. We should aim to be perfect, but we all still stumble in many ways. This is why we need Jesus Christ as our Savior and why our trust must be in Him alone, not in any man or ministry.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body."
